URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING STUDENT WON SECOND PRIZE IN THE LOA THANH AWARD - 2025 GRADUATION PROJECT

The Faculty of Civil Engineering proudly congratulates student Phan Thi Hong Tram, K23 - Urban and Regional Planning, for her excellent performance in winning the Second Prize of the Loa Thanh Award in 2025 with her graduation project "Landscape design of Con Chim Biodiversity Conservation Area - Phuoc Son Commune, Tuy Phuoc District, Binh Dinh Province", under the guidance of Dr. Le Hoang Nam.

Phan Thi Hong Tram is one of the excellent students of the Urban and Regional Planning major. Having achieved excellent results in the graduation project defense in September 2024, Tram has affirmed her research capacity, creative thinking and sense of social responsibility in each project. With a passion for ecological issues - community - sustainable development, Tram always aims for humane planning solutions, promoting harmony between nature and people.

Con Chim - a precious wetland in Thi Nai lagoon (Binh Dinh) - is home to hundreds of migratory bird species, and is under a lot of pressure due to unsustainable exploitation. Based on that reality, Tram's project was built with the goal of conserving and restoring mangrove forests, developing community livelihoods and forming an ecotourism - environmental education model associated with local identity.

Based on the philosophy of "Symbiosis", the project organizes space into three functional zones:

  • Integration Zone: Connecting local communities and developing eco-tourism experiences.
  • Conservation Zone: Restoring natural habitats, expanding habitats for wild birds and research and monitoring space.
  • Healing Zone: A space for recreation, environmental education and wildlife rescue.

The overall design reflects respect for the natural terrain, indigenous ecosystems and fishing village culture along Thi Nai lagoon. Proposed solutions focus on waterways, ecological trails, local materials and green infrastructure systems to minimize environmental impacts.

🌿 Value and significance of the project

The project is not only an excellent learning outcome but also a commitment from the young generation of planners - those who create a future of living in harmony with nature. Through the project, Phan Thi Hong Tram hopes to spread sustainable planning thinking, contribute to the conservation of mangrove ecosystems and build a model of "community conservation area" that can be replicated in many other wetlands in Vietnam.

With serious investment, creative spirit and meticulous working style - humane - close to nature, Phan Thi Hong Tram has affirmed the capacity of Ton Duc Thang University students on the journey towards a green and sustainable planning for the future.
