TDTU Architecture Students Visit and Study Architectural Record Drawing at Western University, Phnom Penh

The course Architectural Record Drawing is one of the most exciting learning activities that Architecture students always look forward to, thanks to its hands-on experience and the opportunity to expand their multicultural understanding. In the academic year 2024–2025, second-year students of the Advanced Architecture Program embarked on an inspiring 4-day trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from May 19 to May 23, 2025.
During the trip, students had the opportunity to sketch and study the architecture of the Royal Palace of Cambodia—a prominent example of traditional Khmer architecture, characterized by its golden roofs, intricate decorative details, and harmonious spatial layout. This activity not only enhanced students’ skills in measuring and sketching but also deepened their understanding of the connection between architecture, culture, and history.
A highlight of the trip was the student exchange activity with Architecture students at Western University, Phnom Penh. At the event, students from both universities engaged in collaborative sketching sessions, cultural exchange activities, and academic discussions—strengthening friendships and broadening their international perspectives.
This short but meaningful journey to Phnom Penh provided students not only with valuable practical knowledge but also with unforgettable memories with friends and lecturers—lessons beyond the classroom and lasting moments along their journey to becoming future architects.
