Exciting friendly football tournament between civil engineering lecturers and staff to commemorate the 42nd Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day
On November 16, 2024, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Ton Duc Thang University conducted the 2024 Civil Engineering Lecturer-Staff Friendly Football Tournament. This event took place at the university's FIFA 2-star standard stadium and was characterized by a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere. This tournament brought together nearly 80 lecturers and staff from the civil engineering education and training sector, representing various faculties and institutes from universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province. The tournament aimed to encourage physical fitness, promote professional exchange, and commemorate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day, observed on November 20, 2024.
The tournament features seven teams, each representing a variety of civil engineering academic institutions and faculties. The participating teams include the Faculty of Civil Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City Open University (OU), the Faculty of Civil Engineering from Lac Hong University (LHU), the Faculty of Civil Engineering from Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), the Institute of Construction, and the Deo Ca Research and Training Institute (DCI) of the University of Transport and Communications in Ho Chi Minh City (UTH), Thuy Loi University Campus, and the Faculty of Civil Engineering from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).
In his opening address, Dr. Tran Minh Tung, Head of KTCT, highlighted the tournament's significance as a crucial initiative. The primary objective of this event is to establish a platform dedicated to physical training and sports, with the intent of fostering enhanced collaboration among professionals in the industry. This collaboration aims to advance both teaching methodologies and scientific research relevant to the civil engineering education and training sector in Ho Chi Minh City and its surrounding provinces.
The tournament was both captivating and dramatic, offering a delightful experience filled with a sense of colleagues and enthusiasm as participants—lecturers and staff passionate about football—took to the field. KTCT fans in the stands cheered enthusiastically for every play made by their home team, while the players on the field competed fiercely, driven by their respective teams' pride and commitment to achieving top honors. Ultimately, the championship title was claimed by the University of Transport and Communications in Ho Chi Minh City (UTH), while the Thuy Loi University Campus secured the runner-up position. The third prize was jointly awarded to the Lac Hong University and Ho Chi Minh City Open University.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dr Tran Van Duc remarked, "The 2024 Lecturer-Staff Exchange Football Tournament was a remarkable success, fostering collaboration and promoting physical fitness among the lecturers and staff from the Civil Engineering Faculties of universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province. Furthermore, the tournament significantly contributed to the traditions of the education and training sector in Vietnam, coinciding with the celebration of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Charter Day."
