Seminar on "START UP FOR CONSTRUCTION STUDENTS"

On April 1st, 2023, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Ton Duc Thang University, in coordination with the Vietnam Society of Civil Engineers (VSCE), organized a seminar on the topic of "STARTUP FOR CONSTRUCTION STUDENTS" in order to share and provide guidance on learning and career orientation for students majoring in Construction and other related majors. The seminar built an important connecting bridge between students, VSCE, and businesses, providing a golden chance for students to access new technologies, innovative ideas, and career opportunities to enrich their knowledge and motivation to properly determine their career paths while still in school. Therefore, the seminar attracted the attendance of many honored guests including VSCE leaders, representatives of prestigious companies, and nearly 140 students who are majoring in Construction, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Urban Planning at TDTU Faculty of Civil Engineering.
In the opening speech of seminar, Dr. Tran Minh Tung - Head of the Faculty of Construction Engineering highlighted the significance of this seminar in helping students and faculty members to access current innovative trends in the construction industry. He emphasized that the Faculty always welcomes experienced alumni who have achieved success in their careers, along with interested businesses, to share practical professional experiences and ignite the passion of the students, thereby enabling them to strive for excellence in their academic programs, and to be more energetic in their future careers and making contribution to the nation. Consequently, the Faculty highly appreciated the efforts of the faculty lecturers and the VSCE who had organized a very practical and informative seminar. Dr. Tung emphasized that the cooperation between the Faculty, VSCE and construction enterprises was one of the key objectives of the Faculty that was to train actively engaging engineers and architects with clear development directions, solid technical skills, great determination, and a desire to succeed in their careers.
At the seminar, Mr. Dinh Viet Duy, Vice Chairman of VSCE and Vice Chairman and CEO of the Architects & Construction Service Corporation, presented the direction of becoming a professional construction engineer. Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, a member of VSCE Executive Board and the founder of GOOSH Education, shared his entrepreneurial story, motivation and key factors that helped students effectively study construction. Mr. Pham Canh Dong, a member of VSCE Executive Board and the CEO of the E&C Construction Service Trading Joint Stock Company, discussed necessary skills of an expert construction engineer when students enter the industry. Mr. Nguyen Hai Ho, a member of VSCE Executive Board and the Chairman of Phuoc Thanh Company, shared his entrepreneurship experience and some tips for rapid development of construction engineers. The honored speakers fully presented and analyzed the contents of the topic, along with valuable lessons on the career development path as well as the industry's direction in the near future. After the speakers’ presentations, many questions were raised by the students which helped them easily grasp and acknowledge new technologies, innovation ideas, and entrepreneurial opportunities, enriching their knowledge and motivation to confidently determine their career direction while still in campus.
